Nirupa Umapathy
Nirupa Umapathy discovered the healing power of Pilates as a client at the Pilates Haus to recover from a bulging disc. She was inspired by the method and to balance the stresses of a competitive Wall Street career, she decided to deepen her knowledge of the Pilates method. In 2010, she completed her first certification through the United States Pilates Association™.
In few years after she got certified, she took a pause from teaching Pilates for a while due to her work conflicts. Now retired from finance, she completed recertification through the Classical Pilates USA Teacher Certification Program (formally the United States Pilates Association™) in 2025. She continues to train under Brett Howard, a Director of Education of the Classical Pilates USA Teacher Certification Program (formally the United States Pilates Association™) and a second generation teacher certified by Joseph Pilates’ protégé Romana Kryzanowska.
When she's not teaching, Nirupa is writing, traveling or coaching students to write authentic essays that get them into their dream colleges.
