The Pilates Haus is a training center for the Classical Pilates USA ™ Teacher Certification Program which is offered by the U.S. Pilates ™, the successor to the United States Pilates Association ® LLC, also known as the U.S.P.A. ®. The program offers certification based upon the Classical Teachings of Joseph Pilates and Romana Kryzanowaska. This means that as an apprentice in this program, you will be learning Pilates in its most classical form.
Brett Howard, Director and Owner of the Pilates Haus and David Freeman, Director and Teacher Trainer were two of the founders of the U.S.P.A. ® in 2005. The mission of the U.S.P.A. ® and U.S. Pilates, ™ LLC is to promote classical pilates education by providing a teacher certification program and a continuing education program. The U.S.P.A. ® and U.S. Pilates ™, over the last 15 plus years, have seen the certification of hundreds of classical pilates instructors and offer numerous educational workshops and seminars.
There are many benefits to becoming a certified instructor. Whether it is a full time career or a part time job while you pursue other aspirations, teaching Pilates is rewarding. Certified instructors can open their own studio, or teach at an existing studio or fitness facility.
FAQ’s about the Certification Program
Are there any prerequisites before entering the Certification Program?
35 private sessions inclusive of up to 10 mat classes given by an Instructor certified through the U.S. Pilates ™/ the Classical Pilates USA ™ Teacher Certification Program, the United States Pilates Association LLC ® or a Classical Instructor approved by U.S. Pilates ™ at its sole discretion, are prerequisites for to applying to the Program.
What does the Certification Program consist of?
The apprentice program consist of two aspects. The first is a series of 3 workshops and 40 private sessions designed to teach the philosophical and technical aspects of the Classical Pilates professional training program. Students are taught beginning, intermediate, and advanced-level movements for each apparatus. The movements are demanding, and you must be in good physical condition to participate. The second aspect is the apprenticeship which consist of 600 total hours of observation, practice, teacher assistance, and solo teaching, and are completed in conjunction with the workshops.
Do you offer a Bridge Program?
Yes, we welcome people certified through other reputable Pilates organizations who desire certification in Classical Pilates. We recognize the value of Pilates education from other reputable institutions. Since every approach is different, and our program is very specific in its proven and honored Classical tradition, we will do an individual assessment for each applicant, customizing their unique “bridge” program requirements to meet their individual needs.
How much does the Certification Program cost?
The price of the Full Teacher Certification Program (600 Hours) is $4500. This price does not include the cost of the 40 mandatory private sessions taken during the Program, required liability insurance, and testing that is given every 200 hours.
The price of the Bridge Program is $3000. This price does not include the cost of mandatory private sessions taken during the Program, required liability insurance, and testing.
